One month in SF

Castro, the gay neighborhood of SF

It is the gay neighborhood of the city, known for its great rainbow flag and political commitment in reference to Harvey Milk. The main street is very nice, colorful and joyful, with an original pastry where you can buy biscuits with evocative shapes, and a cinema where Brockeback Amount is still showing.

Chinatown

I went back to the big gate of Chinatown, the Dragon Gate, and then to the river in Grant's neighborhood. It would be one of the largest Chinese communities outside Asia. On the special offers in the shops, we see how fortunes are made. It's very nice!

Alamo Square and the Painted Ladies

A must-see at the top of the hill where you can admire these Victorian houses and the view of the Downtown. There are plenty of houses like that in San Francisco but these offer a real "postcard" on the city. We stay ten minutes in the park, we see the fog float in front of us. Remember: we saw them in the credits of The House Party? (Full House in English). The last of these houses to be sold left for just over $ 3 million.

The Haights, hippies's neighborhood

The hippie movement was born here, in this neighborhood of San Francisco, it felt good freedom from the late 60s. Now it's a little decrepit. We missed the Blue House on the Hill and the Tattoo Museum (I proudly sported temporary tattoos during the holidays.
